My Bunco Party!

Bunco Betty here!!

So the month of November is my Bunco party!  I finally get to host and I’m SO excited!  Of course I am not the Betty Crocker type and my home is not the cleanest….Shit, I gotta clean!  I mean, I have 2 big Golden Retrievers, (who of course are inside dogs) a husband and not to mention the 2 kids.  I would say I live in a nice house…fairly large and in a great subdivision.  Really, I’m surrounded by the PTA Moms who have 5 kids, their house is immaculate, their kids are well behaved, their husbands seem happy and to top it all off they have the time and tolerance to volunteer for EVERYTHING!  They bake, cook, clean, smile and most of them still have time to hit the gym.

Me, on the other hand…I am very unorganized and there is no method to my madness!  My bunco party will for sure be fun but I will stress out starting today!  Maybe I should scrub the baseboards where the dogs lay…I know for sure I have to scrub the bonus room carpet, where the kids spilled their top ramen soup and  I have been putting it off forever.  I guess you could say that stuff is not too important to me.  🙂  My husband on the other hand is a type “A” person who has a saint for a mother who is always clean and organized.  How do we ever survive??  He says “you’re lucky you are cute!”  LOL Thank god he’s freakin hot because he gets away with things like laughing when I try to make dinner with a recipe I find.  He says “wow honey, is this a recipe dinner or another surprise?”  But he is cute and we both laugh.  He knows he married a chick from a small town who has no desire to volunteer in the classroom, have a daycare or by any means be a Betty Crocker.  🙂

So far, only a few bunco gals have been to my house…the bunco theme was mentioned for November and someone said…”we should have a stripper theme since you have the pole!”

Stripper Bunco Party?

HAHA…I totally don’t have a stripper pole, although I did take some pole dance classes for fitness and LOVED it!  Now I just want to rent one and blow them all away with an ACTUAL stripper bunco theme!!  I really don’t know how to explain that to the kids, so I will just go with a wacky wig bunco theme.  🙂 Super fun and maybe I can show the gals some chair dance routines…in my not so perfectly clean home… 😉

Until next time, I shall be busy cleaning and having panic attacks in anticipation for my super fun Wacky Wig Bunco Party!

HUGS!

Our favorite dice game!

When it comes to gals getting together it doesn’t really matter what we do, as long as we’re together…right?  Well, my gal pals and I love to play our favorite dice game… BUNCO!  We actually have 2 favorite dice games, Bunco and the other is LCR (Left Center Right).  Of course playing these games lead to how much we eat, drink and what may come out of our mouths as the night progresses.

All of us have children and therefore after a few cocktails we start letting loose and talking about the funny things that our children do and say.  Just because we are women doesn’t mean it can’t get raunchy with our topics of discussion!  Oh my if you could be a fly on the wall.  Or for that matter, if our husbands or significant others could be the fly on the wall!  Nothing more sexy than a bunch of women talking about disgusting things and embarrassing stories.  I have to hand it to one gal who went on about the giant poop that was stuck in the toilet from the neighbor kid who came to play.  The embarrassment of the poor kid wasn’t the point!  She looked at the boy and said “we should take a picture of this one and show it to your Dad!  NICE ONE!”  Now, not too sure if the picture was actually taken and shown to the dad, but then the topic escalated!

Getting together for a dice game can quickly turn into just plain drinking games!  We’ve made pyramids, had contests to see who can walk on their hands the longest and as many of us would like to think we are still young and in shape….really none of us are.  So, as we stuff our faces with food we shouldn’t eat, drink too much and say way too many cuss words, at the end of the night we all have to head back to our normal everyday lives…waiting for the next get together to let loose once again.

Cool November Bunco Theme

Hosting a bunco party is a great way to enjoy the company of others, have good food and drinks and play a fun and exciting game. If you host a themed bunco party, you’re able to take the excitement to another level. You can add decorations, delicious themed food and even costumes. Coming up with unique bunco theme ideas will also set your party ahead of others that you have attended.

One great bunco theme idea to host in the fall months is “Cool November”. Since the outdoor temperatures are starting to drop, the leaves have already fallen off the trees and the snow is getting closer, “Cool November” is a very fitting bunco theme idea.

There are two color schemes that you can use for this bunco theme idea. You can go with the colors of autumn and Thanksgiving, brown, orange and gold. Or you can go with a cooler color palette featuring blue, white and silver. Either color combination works with this bunco theme idea.

If you decide to go with the autumn and Thanksgiving colors, you can decorate with leaves, fresh flowers, pumkins, gourds and indian corn. You can serve autumn recipes that include pumpkin pie tartlets, turkey sandwiches, cranberry bread and baked apples. A wonderful cocktail than can highlight the evening is a cinnamon toast which is made with spiced dark rum and apple cider. Make your opponants cocktails extra strong, they’ll appreciate the indulgence and you’ll appreciate their lack of concentration during the game.

If you go the other route with this bunco theme idea, you will be using cold looking décor and food. The cold weather bunco theme idea should have decorations that make you feel like you are stepping into winter weather. Hang paper snowflakes from the ceiling, cover tables with blue tablecloths and white glitter and line the bottom of wine and martini glasses with cotton balls. Foods that would work perfectly with this bunco theme are stuffed mushrooms, mini meatballs, cheese fondue and bacon wrapped dates. The perfect cocktail to go with your cool color palette is a blue champagne cocktail made with blue curacao, lemon vodka and champagne.

If you are planning on hosting a bunco party in autumn, the best bunco theme idea is “cool November”. It is versatile, festive and fun. Don’t forget to get enough bunco supplies, have a variety of food and plenty of  ingredients for the delicious cocktails. Most importantly, don’t gloat too much when you win the game, just enough to make everyone jealous.
